Here is what you will get using the first method ; as you see, you can start cables rather soon

And if you use the second , 

You increase until the diameter is the head circumference/2,75.

Then you knit as long as you want your hat to be and bind off !

Vous augmentez pour obtenir un diamètre équivalent à circonférence de la tête / 2,75

Puis vous tricotez la longueur souhaitée et rabattez

As you are knitting top down, you will start with few (=peu de) stitches and increase (=augmenter). WHICH kind of (quelle sorte de)  increases can you use ? (Videos below = ci-dessous)
- yarn over = yo : if you knit the yo normally in the next (=prochain) round, you will have a little hole (= trou); if you knit the yo through the back loop (ktbl)(=tricoter par le brin arrière), you will not have a hole.
- knit front and back = kfb : two (=2) stitches in one (=1)
- make one left (M1L) : your increase will lean (=pencher) to the left (= gauche)
- make one right (M1R) : your increase will lean (=pencher) to the right(= droite)
in the videos you see continental knitting (yarn on the left)

Comme vous commencez par le haut, vous avez peu de mailles au départ, puis vous allez augmenter. Quelles augmentations pouvez-vous utiliser ? (voir les vidéos)
- jeté : un trou si vous le tricotez normalement au tour suivant, pas de trou si vous le tricotez par le brin arrière
- augm. barrée : 2 mailles dans une
- augm. vers la gauche
augm. vers la droite
Les vidéos montrent la méthode continentale de tricot (fil à gauche)
