As you are knitting top down, you will start with few (=peu de) stitches and increase (=augmenter). WHICH kind of (quelle sorte de) increases can you use ? (Videos below = ci-dessous)
- yarn over = yo : if you knit the yo normally in the next (=prochain) round, you will have a little hole (= trou); if you knit the yo through the back loop (ktbl)(=tricoter par le brin arrière), you will not have a hole.
- knit front and back = kfb : two (=2) stitches in one (=1)
- make one left (M1L) : your increase will lean (=pencher) to the left (= gauche)
- make one right (M1R) : your increase will lean (=pencher) to the right(= droite)
in the videos you see continental knitting (yarn on the left)
Next time, we'll see WHERE (=pù) you can increase.

to bind off : Jenny's surprisingly stretchy bind off (JSSBO)
1st stitch : normal
IF THE SECOND STITCH IS A PURL STITCH, do a normal YO (yarnover) before you knit it
IF THE SECOND STITCH IS A KNIT STITCH, do a reverse YO before you knit it (see video below)
then slip 1st (first) stitch and yo together over the last stitch on your right needle :

top down hat
Ce commentaire (le dernier) pourra vous aider : Re paragraph “Second, see how the fabric that forms the crown lies fairly flat? The rate at which you increase determines the degree of flatness of the hat. If you decrease too slowly, the hat tends to become pointy; if you decrease really slowly, it becomes a stocking cap. If you decrease too fast, you tend to create a “ruffle” or “gathers” , although that’s difficult to see when the hat is on the needles. You mention increases and decreases in same discussion.

inc : yarn over (yo) = jeté - au rang suivant, il y aura un trou ; pour l'éviter, tricoter par le brin arrière : knit/purl through back loop = ktbl/ptbl
http://youtu.be/oI4rbwC3dqI
inc : knit front and back (kfb) : tricoter 2 fois, 1 fois par l'avant de la maille, 1 fois par l'arrière

dec : knit 2 together : k2tog : deux mailles ensemble à l'endroit
http://www.knittinghelp.com/video/play/knit-2-together-continental
http://www.knittinghelp.com/video/play/knit-2-together-english
